Add a Target Using Chromosome Coordinates

1. Select the Coordinate tab.
2. In the Chromosome field, enter a chromosome of interest.

Make sure that all entries include prefixes that match the chromosome format of the reference genome. See Expected Chromosome Format.

Mitochondrial chromosomes are not supported.

3. In the Start Position and Stop Position fields, enter the base pair coordinates for the start and stop positions of the target region.

The entered coordinates represent the range in the genome for which probes are ultimately created.

If the max amplicon length is 140 bp, start and stop positions cannot be more than 90 bp apart. For all other max amplicon lengths, start and stop positions cannot be more than 125 bp apart.

CAUTION

Designs cannot be generated for some regions of human and mouse chromosomes. If the start and stop positions are completely within one of these regions, DesignStudio will display an error message.

4. [Optional] In the Name field, enter a name for the chromosome region.

The entered name will identify the chromosome region throughout the design. A region name can have up to 20 alphanumeric characters. Underscores, hyphens, white spaces, and periods are allowed.

5. Select Add Target.

The chromosome region is added to the targets table below the Add Targets panel.

CAUTION

DesignStudio does not support designs that include multiple entries with the same chromosome number and start and stop positions.
