Ribo-Zero Gold rRNA Removal Kit (Epidemiology)

Catalog IDs: MRZE706, MRZE724

The Ribo-Zero Gold rNA Removal Kit will be discontinued on November 2nd, 2018. Illumina does not offer an alternative solution.

Product Description

The Ribo-Zero (Epidemiology) kit is compatible with human microbiome and other bacteria-infected human, mouse, or rat samples. This kit removes eukaryotic cytoplasmic rRNA, mitochondrial rRNA, and bacterial rRNA.

Performance Specifications

Compare rRNA content before and after a Ribo-Zero reaction to assess the depletion of rRNA in total RNA.

A Ribo-Zero reaction removes:

  • > 99% of large cytoplasmic rRNA and large mitochondrial and chloroplast rRNA, as applicable.
  • > 85% to 95% of small rRNA (eg, 5S).

The success of rRNA removal depends on factors such as species, sample quality, and sequence homology between the rRNA sample and removal solution, especially with 5S rRNA removal. Use the Epicentre RNAMatchMaker at epibio.com/rnamatchmaker to verify sample and kit sequence homology sequence homology.

Input Requirements

This protocol supports rRNA depletion from input of 500 ng–2.5 µg total RNA. Use a fluorometric-based method to quantify input.
