Introducing the NextSeq 1000/2000 P1 Reagent kit

09/20/21

This bulletin outlines the features and specifications of the new P1 reagent kit for the NextSeq 1000 and NextSeq 2000 systems.

What’s new:

  • Usage of the new NextSeq 1000/2000 P1 reagent kit is enabled by an upgrade to NextSeq 1000/2000 Control Software Suite v1.4. This upgrade is required to run the new kit and can be self-installed.
  • The P1 reagent kit introduces a lower throughput option for NextSeq 1000/2000 users.
  • Along with the previously available P2 and P3 kits, the P1 kit expands the scalability and flexibility of the NextSeq 1000/2000 for more applications while allowing smaller batches, and projects to be run in < 20 hours.

Frequently asked questions:

  • What sizes of P1 reagents are available?
The NextSeq 1000/2000 P1 kit is only available in a 300-cycle size.
  • What NextSeq 1000/2000 Control Software version is required to run the P1 kit?
Version 1.4 of the NextSeq 1000/2000 Control Software introduces compatibility with the P1 kit; older versions of the control software are not compatible.
  • Are the data from the P1 kit compatible with the onboard DRAGEN workflows?
Yes, with NextSeq 1000/2000 Control Software v1.4, onboard DRAGEN versions 3.7 and 3.8 are both compatible with P1 data.
  • What is the expected run time for the P1 kit?
A full 2 x 150 bp paired-end run takes around 19 hours to complete, with an average cycle time of about 2.8 minutes.
  • Are there any changes in loading concentration compared to other NextSeq 1000/2000 kits?
The P1 kit uses the same loading concentration as the P2 and P3 kits.
  • How many cycles are in the P1 300-cycle kit?
The P1 300-cycle reagent cartridge includes sufficient volume for an extra 38 cycles, allowing up to 338 cycles of sequencing.
