How Product Retirement Works

Our obsolescence process is a transition that retires a system and its consumables in a systematic manner. After a multi-year transition plan, the instruments, kits, and service contracts are no longer sold for the affected system. To minimize disruption to our services, the obsolescence process features milestones leading up to the obsolescence date.

How to Prepare
  1. Review the obsolescence transition timeline. Familiarize yourself with the obsolescence timeline.
  2. Plan last time buys. Schedule last time purchases for instruments, consumables, and service contracts with your Sales Representative.
  3. Discover new solutions. Contact your Sales Representative to learn more about potential replacement options to ensure a seamless transition while advancing your projects.
  4. Utilize support resources. Take advantage of support services offered for the system during the transition. For questions on Illumina obsolescence process or information about other products and services, contact Technical Support.
Key Terms
  • EOS—End-of-Sale. Last time buy of system, consumables, or service contracts.
  • EOSL—End-of-Service-Life. Final day of service and support. All active and existing contracts cease.
